這套“storyteller – the complete anthology 1964-1990”為洛史都華最初於1989所發行的4cd選輯，收藏了搖滾公雞洛史都華最初於英國藍調樂團steampacket、讓他嶄露頭角的搖滾樂團jeff beck group，以及於聲名大噪的faces樂團效力期間的部份錄音，當然也收錄了洛史都華單槍匹馬闖蕩搖滾樂壇之後所灌錄的經典歌曲，不僅得到了amg、rolling stone近滿分的推薦，也得到了雙白金的銷售認證。如今，在市場絕版多年之後，終於在樂迷的熱烈期盼之下再版發行！ cd1以1964到1971年洛史都華的早期錄音為主，包括與steampacket重唱marvin gaye的「can i get a witness」、與jeff beck group發行“truth”、以及與faces合作時期的“long player”專輯中歌曲、1966年「shake」、1964年單曲「good morning little schoolgirl」、1968年「little miss understood」與其b面單曲「so much to say」、1969年與澳洲樂團python lee jackson合作的英國單曲榜#3歌曲「in a broken dream」等...都是現在少見的錄音，另外也收進“an old raincoat won’t ever let you down”、“gasoline alley”兩張洛史都華單飛後獲得正面肯定的專輯中歌曲。 cd2接續收錄了1974到1976年單飛全盛時期作品，包括英國單曲榜冠軍「maggie may」、「reason to believe」，分別翻作靈魂樂團歌手the temptations、sam cooke、搖滾名人jimi hendrix的「(i know) i’m losing you」、「twistin’ the night away」、「angel」(英國單曲榜#4)，以及與elton john合作的、「let me be your car」等歌曲，都是出自於洛史都華連續三張得到英國專輯榜冠軍的“every picture tells a story”、“never a dull moment”、“smiler”等專輯。之中也穿插洛史都華與ronnie wood在faces時期所合寫灌錄的「stay with me」、「you can make me dance， sing or anything」、英國單曲榜#6「oh! no not my baby」(原唱maxine brown)等。 cd3集中了1975到1981洛史都華依然稱霸排行榜、以及正式打進美國市場的階段的代表作，包括“atlantic crossing”(美國專輯榜#9)、“a night on the town”(美國專輯榜#2)、“blondes have more fun”(美國專輯榜#1)到“tonight， i’m yours”(美國專輯榜#11)等6張幾乎都拿到金唱片、白金認證的熱賣專輯中的單曲，其中尤以單曲「sailing」、「tonight’s the night」、「the first cut is the deepest」、「i don’t want to talk about it」、「hot legs」鞏固他搖滾巨星的地位。 cd4依然按照年代順序排下，先是招牌曲「young turks」(英國單曲榜#11)、「baby jane」(英國單曲榜#1)、「some guys have all the luck」(英國單曲榜#15)、「love touch」(英國單曲榜#27)、「every beat of my heart」(英國單曲榜#2)、兩首美國單曲榜#12的「lost in you」、「forever young」等洛史都華90年代的經典歌曲。此外，早期錄音版本的「i don’t want to talk about it」、與放克先驅團體the isley brothers靈魂人物ronald isley合唱該團的暢銷曲「this old heart of mine」(美國單曲榜#10)，以及全新詮釋tom waits的「downtown train」(美國單曲榜#3)這三首也都是此專輯在1989年發行的時候首度收錄、未曾發行的歌曲。專輯內附52頁內冊，刊載已逝前滾石雜誌、紐約時報音樂專欄作家robert palmer引言文章，與洛史都華過去寫真照片、逐曲文字介紹。 |
